About Sherri Council
With pen in hand Sherri whips life experiences into moving inspirational recipes that capture the essence of moments near and dear to all. The gift of writing inspirational words is the vein that has flowed through her life - flushing out impurities and bringing in fresh perspectives. For over 25 years, Sherri's poetry has captured the essence of special moments with flashes of inspiration to celebrate the vibrancy of youth, honor the resilience of the elderly and to inspire all ages in between.
Sherri has published poetry in a variety of venues, including contributions to National Black Child Development Institute calendars from 1991 to 2009.
Sherri's poem, “Just Being You is the Right Thing" was featured in An Activity Book for African American Families: Helping Children Cope with Crisis. Sponsored by National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (NICHD), US Dept. of Health & Human Services, National Institutes of Health and National Black Child Development Institute.
Sherri's book, Life's Pearls - Wisdom for a Meaningful Life, with a foreword by Les Brown, encourages us to reach for the pearls deep within us. Sherri says that like pearls, one can never truly know the value of a person until they have seen what's inside". Life's Pearls seeks to bring out the inner beauty of everyone by encouraging them to look inside to realize their true beauty.
Sherri’s poetry has inspired generations for well over a decade and has been presented at events sponsored by various churches, organizations and schools. Bonnie Branch Middle School students have recited her poetry in their Poetry Slams for seven years and custom poetry has been presented at Howard High School. The People’s Community Baptist Church featured custom poems for Generation One and graduating seniors for over five years. Currently Sherri’s poetry is featured in Services, Weddings and Renewals at Horizon Christian Church in Odenton, Maryland.
Everything Sherri has written is designed to inspire you to Hope On... regardless of waves that may be crashing all around you, the track you are currently traveling on or whatever valley you may have to climb out of. Sherri advises to never give up because the answer just might be on the other side of a door you may not have knocked on, a place you have not let yourself grow into or a bad experience you may not have let go of.
Sherri advocates letting go of your past and venturing into a dimension of inspiration that propels you to Achieve More, Be More and Create More. She writes that “Hope can Power a Perpetual Train that runs on Destiny Tracks” so Climb aboard your Destiny Train and Hope On...
